I'm about to experience SNOW CRASH for the first time, thanks to an Audible.com gift certificate I received as a gift on a certain winter holiday, but I've read ANATHEM, which left me with the feeling that Stephenson doesn't so much write novels as philosophical and mathematical essays strung together by a story. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed ANATHEM a great deal, I just think it could have been about 20% shorter without sacrificing narrative or character. If SNOW CRASH is similar I'll very likely enjoy it as well, but it's also likely to be the last Stephenson novel I read.
