Playstation 3

Postby Hieronymus on Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:57 am

I bought a PS3 over the weekend, more to ease my hunger for hi-def movies (now that HD-DVD is dead) rather than its games, as the catalog seems rather sparse. I picked up Oblivion even though I already have it for the PC, because it as A] the only RPG available and B] cheap ("only" US$30). I was thinking of getting the upcoming Army of Two for my weekly co-op gaming session. Any other recommendations?

Ratchet & Clank games have been solid for years. If you like third person blowing stuff up, I hear that game is suhweet.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is good, if you're into those adventure type games.

I guess Whateveresque isn't exactly awash with PS3 owners or enthusiasts. Big surprise.

Still chugging away at my Playstation 2...but I've heard only good things about Ratchet & Clank. People say it is like playing a Pixar movie...

Currently going through my flatmate's copy of Assassin's Creed, which is fairly enjoyable, especially if you're into vaguely swashbuckling swordfights and kicking Knights Templar off buildings.

There is a certain joy in throwing someone off a building and listening to the crowd below freak out.

I got a PS3 for Christmas and I love it. THe ability to play blu-ray as well is sweet!

I have the Lego Star Wars which I love (the disk is currently MIA, which makes for a sad Jedi).
Resistance: Fall of Man is good, though a bit hyper-violent for me (I'm a sissy these days.)
Ratchet is another one which looks good but I have yet to buy it.

Rumor has it BIOSHOCK is coming to PS3 this spring which would kick much ass.

Anyways, I have GTA4 for the PS3, and the Les Paul controller for Guitar Hero for the PS3, but not the PS3 itself. Which leaves something to be desired.

Since I have a family, everyone was telling me to get a Wii. But my 5 year old checked it out and told me he prefers our old Xbox (he's a racing game fiend). The only Nintendo game I really got into was Super Mario Kart, but if the boy prefers his PGR2, Flatout, Test Drive, etc., who am I to judge?

So I think I'm going for a PS3. There's a lot of doom and gloom out there about Sony's prospects and it's last in the console wars. But the cheapest Blu-Ray is about $250, and the PS3 gets you an awesome system for only an extra $150.

When will they cut prices??? I gotta play my shit!

Gran Turismo - car racing game. There is a good on-line play.
Dead Space - single player sci-fi adventure

It's pretty neat when you get blu ray movies with the special support.

Fallout 3. It came out back in October but it rocks, and it's an RPG.
