I have no idea what possessed me to create this. I only know that I finally read Old Man's War last week and my lunchbreaks could be filled better.

This is made of awesome.

As the former queen of Scalzi fan-photoshoppery, I hereby cede the tiara to you.

But just you wait. Some day when you least expect it, I'll be waiting round the corner. Lurking. With graphics programs.

And should that day come, you will find me prepared. We will do battle with Lens Flares, Gradient Maps, Motion Blurs and New Adjustment Layers.

Oh yes... there will be New Adjustment Layers...

I give you leave to prove yourself worthy on the field of battle. Have you dedicated your tablet with the blood of a thousand virgins? Have you summoned the ravens to feast upon the bodies of the vanquished? Are you prepared to be MIGHTY?

I shall join the graphics war too, but since I have absolutely no skill with any of those graphics programs, I'll be doing mine with crayons and kraft paper. I'll tape the result to my screen. You're all welcome to come over and take a peek.

Since I'll be using the equivalent of a breech loader against massed crew-served weapons, I expect to learn, first-hand, the meaning of "splat".

You are aware that the artist in that video is, well, slumming, right?

If you have a tablet, chances are you have an infinitely superior painting app that came with the tablet: Art Dabbler (a feature-reduced version of Painter).

MS Paint is technically useless, since crayons are both more technologically sophisticated and produce cooler results. (Also, I just love the smell of crayons. MS Paint has this weird coffee stain/burnt cracker-mixed-with-mouse-poop odor.)

Other paint apps which vary in their usefulness (but are free), there's <shudder> GIMP, CinePaint (awesome if you've got awesome hardware), and a bunch of others I'm really too lazy to look up and list.

Me, I paint from the high-end (Amazon Paint), mid-end (Photoshop), and mud-end (oils).
