I have to admit, I winced this morning when the news came out about possible cheating in the NE Patriots camp. Yet I shrugged it off and went about my day, thinking that perhaps it was all a big misunderstanding.
Turns out, I was wrong. The NFL Commissioner has officially announced that the Patriots were indeed cheating against the NY Jets this past Sunday. An assistant camera man was taping the defensive signals of the opposing team and apparently it's not the first time his camera has been confiscated for this suspected offense.
There is also question about multiple radio signals and channels the team was using during the game and when confronted, the team could not explain them away. One would think the multiple channels were to relay the illegal information to the proper people.
I am disheartened. The Patriots have always been my team, but they deserve to be drawn and quartered for this. Along with taking away draft picks, the Commissioner should reverse Sunday's win to a loss. Starting the season behind, under scrutiny and with the knowledge that they'll miss draft picks for next year, should make them think twice about being stupid.
I swear, I'm just going to stop watching all professional sports, with the steroid controversy in baseball, the referee scandal in basketball and now this, golf is looking like the only sport at which you can't cheat and possibly get away with it and we all know how stimulating watching that sport can be.
Ugh. I'm off to rip down my Patriots banner :(
